What does Darth Vader’s helmet and the Ford Mustang have in common?
Car design is commonly peppered with many abstract terms, but few realise that one infamous space villain’s helmet actually inspired the front-end of the latest Ford Mustang.
When designing the new Mustang, the design team wanted to make sure the new model looked more aggressive than ever. A place where they found such inspiration happened to also be one of the most famous screenplay villains of all time. Yes, the angled nostrils and contours of Darth Vader’s mask became the inspiration for the Mustang’s new fog lamp scoops and front-end shape!
On this day the world’s best-selling sportscar, alongside the world’s most recognisable villain, help fuse two of the largest fanbases, not just on earth but perhaps well beyond its atmosphere. May the 4th be with you!
