FANCAM allows fans to re-live the Emirates Airline Park experience

FANCAM allows fans to re-live the Emirates Airline Park experience FANCAM will be at Emirates Airline Park again, giving fans a chance to see and tag themselves watching the Xerox Golden Lions against DHL Western Province and possibly win a trip to the Currie Cup final. Currie Cup partner, DirectAxis financial services, introduced the innovative technology to the tournament last year and decided to bring it back after it proved such a hit with fans.

Described as the ‘ultimate crowd selfie’, the FANCAM technology was developed in South Africa and over the past eight years has featured at major events around the world. From Taylor Swift and U2 concerts to the Super Bowl, UEFA Champions League final and Daytona 500, fans have been able to visit a dedicated website, zoom in, find themselves on an interactive 360-degree image and share it with friends and family on their social media accounts. There’s even a permanent FANCAM at Madison Square Garden, home to the New York Rangers and Knicks.
Rugby fans who visit the website after this weekend’s game can re-live the experience, share the image with friends, family and followers by tagging it on social media and could also win a VIP trip to the Currie Cup final and other prizes
by looking for the virtual Currie Cup hidden in the stadium.
Supporters can register on

www.directaxis.fancam.com before the games to be notified when the image goes live.
Marlies Kappers, DirectAxis head of marketing says: “This is the third year of our Currie Cup partnership and we wanted to do something more than just have banners and branding at the matches. The FANCAM proved so popular last year, we decided to bring it back to enhance the experience of being at the game and share it.”

FANCAM CEO, Tinus le Roux says: “We’ve taken FANCAM to some of the biggest sporting events in the world, but it’s very special to be back at the world’s longest running rugby tournament. As well as this weekend’s encounter at Loftus, DirectAxis will bring FANCAM to another five Currie Cup matches this season.
